One Month Away!

The debut of Story and Grit is one month away, and that’s not an April Fool’s joke!

The past week has been great for the magazine. A handful of great writers submitted stories that I am excited to publish. I’d like to tell you all about them, but I don’t want to spoil anything. I think you’ll enjoy the stories as much as I did, and I hope that you’ll see many more stories from these writers in the future.

With May 1st fast approaching I’m still looking for more stories. Share this blog with any writers that are wanting to get their work out there. Let them know that Story and Grit is an outlet for southern voices, crime fiction, and horror. I was thinking about it today and I’d love to see some horror set in the Appalachians. Man, there’s some scary shit that could take place in those mountains.

I’ve also enlisted the talents of a musician I’m a big fan of to write music reviews for the ‘zine. These reviews will focus on artists and music that is coming out of the south. He’ll keep an eye on all genres and will post as often as he can. You can probably expect his first review to be posted with the release of Jason Isbell’s new album, but that’s up to him. You may see some reviews before then.

Last thing, the week of the magazine’s debut you can expect the first short story on May 1st, a book review on May 3rd, and the first Six Simple Questions interview on May 5th. The book review and the Six Simple Questions interview will coincide with one another. As I’ve already said, the interview is money and the answers to the questions I sent the author are just fantastic. Can’t wait for you to read them.

That’s all I’ve got for yall today. Have a good one!
